June the 5th.. Well all is well so far with Mason. He is a touch under weight, but we are working on that. My guess is all the hospital stays had something to do with it. He is still working on rolling over. One day soon he will get it. He is very attentive to things. He will sit and watch the pictures in a book while we read the whole thing to him. He also seems to have taken a particular fancy to certain types of TV shows. He will watch and react to things as they happen. We are limiting his TV time so he doesn't become a couch potato. HAHAHA  He seems to enjoy playing with all kinds of things like most babies I suppose.  He took a great liking to my 1 liter water bottle. He try's to eat anything he can get a hold of. He is also really starting to make a lot of sounds around his trach. I believe this is a good thing. He loves to hear his voice.

June the 7th.. Well yesterday we ventured out with Mason for the first time since his surgery, other then to go to the hospital or doctors office. Some friends had a surprise birthday party for Mason's grandmother. Mason did very good, and lots of people got to spend some time with him. He was so happy all day long. I really think he liked being out. Even the heat didn't seem to bother him. After taking out for 4+ hours Jarita and I are a bit more comfortable about venturing out with him. We sure do long for the days when it was just Mason and the diaper bag that we had to take along. What a great day we had.

June the 15th.. Mason had a bit of a rough day mid day. His trach plugged up, and Jarita had to do an emergency trach change. After which he showed a bit of blood in his suctions. All turned out well, and is back to normal now. We took Mason outside last evening for awhile. He is getting so observant. He just can't soak in enough of the world fast enough. It is fun watching him discover new things. He is eating well and gaining weight. This is a good thing as his doctor has been a bit concerned about his weight.

June the 20th.. We took Mason to se his ENT on Thursday. Dr. Bauman said he was getting some cannulated tissue around his trach opening, so she treated it with silver nitrate. Man was that nasty. It looks much better today. We have been seeing a bit of blood right after his last 2 trach changes, but it clears up right away. We think it might be from the suctioning with the catheter. So we shortened the depth at which we insert it. We will see how that goes.

On the plus side Mason has found he likes to be vertical. He likes to spend a good part of his day standing in his exersaucer. He likes the toys to play with that are on it. He is really growing and getting very strong. Mason has started teething and that is affecting his eating habits. We really would like to see him eating a bit more then he does. But he is eating regular and looks really good so no major concerns at this time.

Saturday the 27th... Everything is going very well with Mason. His apatite is coming back. He is still cutting teeth and will do so for some time I guess. Sure does bother him some days. He is starting to eat solid foods instead of just formula. He is really doing a lot of talking around his trach now. So much for a really quiet house. Grin. Every day is a real pleasure to wake up and have him shoot his wonderful smile our direction. Here is some pictures of his new found interest.
