From time to time DJ's will have an online contest. The start and finish dates will be posted on each new contest.
In Memory of Gary Tuel Labor Day Of Love Contest Who Says Pull Tabs Are Worthless? The time we have spent at the hospital with our son has put us in touch with the Ronald McDonald House. The folks at the Ronald McDonald house provide a wonderful service for families with children in the hospital. Inexpensive or free room and board is provided to parents whose children are in the hospital, who otherwise cannot afford to stay in the city. As we all know, hotels can get quite expensive, especially when staying for days at a time. Occupancy of the house is about 90% annually, and the average stay is 8 days. You can imagine how important this is to parents to be able to stay close to their children who are in the hospital. One of the ways the Ronald McDonald house raises money to give this support to families is through collecting pull tabs from aluminum cans. (Square Tabs Only) The aluminum in the tabs is a different makeup of aluminum than the cans themselves. They are recycled in Minnesota and are worth about 50 cents a pound to the Ronald McDonald House. The house in Iowa City Iowa collects about $15,000 worth of tabs a year. Here is the contest: You collect all the CLEAN square pull tabs you can from now until 8/31/05. Put them in baggies and mail them to us. We will determine the winners by weight. We will check for lead weights in the bags. HAHAHA Each person can enter with one package of tabs only. Please don't send multiple shipments of tabs for the contest as the multiple packages will not count. We don't care how you come up with the tabs, dig them from the ground, beg for them, pull them from your cans, it doesn't matter, just send them. We are also hopeful that all of you will dig some gold jewelry because of the increased digging of the pull tabs.
What are the prizes? Grand Prize: Killer Bee "Wasp" Headphones 1st Prize: 2005 1/10 oz. $5.00 Gold Coin. 2nd Prize: 25 Mercury Dimes (More prizes may be added.)

Ok folks this is a great way to really make a difference in some peoples lives and win some really great prizes. You don't have to do anything but collect pull tabs from wherever you can get them and mail them in by 8/31/05. We will have the winners posted by Labor day on the winners page.
